Knowing people is probably the best thing that can happen to you in your short existence on Earth. Knowing people will help you to get a job, to find a flat, to make decisions. Knowing many people a little better will give you some very important things in life - joy, strength or the feeling of being needed, to just name three of them. Knowing few people better will give you the most important gift in life: Friends. Sometimes friends ARE your life. Sort of...
Currently, there are approximately 6.75 billion people living on this cozy, little planet called the Earth. I am one of them.
If I took a look at my address book, I'd maybe find 100 names. If I took a closer look, I'd maybe find 200. If I counted every single person, who I ever took a photo of (well, as you might know, I'm addicted to taking photos...), I don't think I could find more than 5.000 different faces. And this would only be, if I included all those pictures of random people at random places taken over the last 21 1/4 years. Double this figure, to take all those into account that I haven't taken a photo of. Using this (to be honest, pretty randomly guessed) figure, I draw the conclusion that I could have had the theoretical chance to meet approximately 1,5 e-4 % of the Earth's population. I haven't even recognized 1/100 of them. Probably far less.
Well. And what am I doing? Instead of heading out, to tell this negligibly tiny fraction of persons, that I know at least a negligibly tiny little bit better, that I love every single one of them, I'm sitting in my cozy, little room, drinking Coke and am learning for "Rechnungswesen". What the heck is that???
Sorry for being a little philosophical. All in all, I can't complain, university rocks, and so does my life. It's just that somedays... I don't see too much sense in it...
P.S.: By the way - YES, I really DO love you! Otherwise I would have forgotten about you long, long time ago, to save some memory on my internal hard drive for all those persons who really matter to me. So, be assured - you're part of that negligibly tiny little fraction still existing in my head! ;-)
